Q. What are your emergency exam fees?

A.  Our emergency exam fees are as follows:

         Weeknight/Weekend - $77

         Holiday All Day - $117

         Recheck within 24 hours - $0

         Recheck within 7 days - $35

         Transfer from RDVM - $35

Q. Do you offer payment plans?

A. We offer Care Credit. It can be applied for over the phone or online. The number is 1-800-365-8295. The web site is www.carecredit.com

Q. Do you see exotics?

A. We can provide basic emergency care. If you need the name of area vets who also see exotics please give us a call and we can give you several numbers.

Q. Do you spay/neuter animals or do vaccines?

A. Since we are an emergency clinic we do not do vaccines or routine spay/neuters.

Q. Do you need to see my animal in order to prescribe medication?

A. Due to the fact that we are not your animal's regular veterinarian, we are unable to prescribe medication without performing an exam. We are also unable to diagnosis over the phone. Many medical problems can present themselves in different ways so a full exam should be performed in order to make sure the correct treatment is given.

Q. Can you come get my pet?

A. Unfortunately, we are not able to come to your location to get your animal. There are several area cab companies that will come get your animal. Also, if you are unable to get your animal into the vehicle due to the animal's weight, you and a few neighbors/family members can use a blanket or large sheet to lift the animal. This helps to distribute the weight more evenly. Once you arrive, we can help you get the animal out of the vehicle and, using a gurney, we can get them inside.

Q. Does the doctor stay in the hospital overnight or are they on call?

A. We have a veterinarian in the building 24 hours a day.

Q. If I bring my pet in for euthanasia what are my options for body care?

A. We offer several options through Western Farms. There is group burial/cremation and cremation with ashes returned. Our staff will let you know the cost of each when you arrive. You can also ask the receptionist on the phone before hand.

Q. Do I need an appointment?

A. Appointments are not needed, but we do appreciate a call letting us know you are on your way so that we can be prepared for your animal. By calling ahead, we are also able to give you the fastest directions to get to us and let you know our emergency exam fees.

Q. My pet bit me/someone. What should I do?

A. If you are bitten, it is important to seek medical attention in order to prevent any possible infection from setting in. The animal that is involved must also be placed in quarantine for 10 days. This can be done in your home, or if you would rather, a veterinary office. During the quarantine, the animal must be kept away from people and other animals. Continue to offer food and water as normal. If the animal goes outside to use the restroom it must be kept on a leash, even if the yard is fenced.   

The reason your pet is quarantined is to determine if your animal is in the shedding phase of rabies.  Domestic animals will shed the rabies virus up to 10 days before they die from the disease. Rabies can be spread to others in saliva. At the end of this 10 day quarantine the animal must be examined by a veterinarian. If your animal is not current on its rabies vaccination, one will be administered at this time.
